You say, "Eventually regular folk feel the squeeze". Regular folk feel the squeeze immediately. It's a sales tax with another name. We'll be paying the tariffs, not foreign countries.

Sadly, I think it's a smokescreen to cover up for tax cuts that will add TRILLIONS to our out-of-control deficit. 45% tariff on Lesotho??

I’m okay with the tariffs being implemented on other countries. If you look at the tariffs that other countries have imposed on the USA it is the only fair way to get the other countries to be reasonable. It might cost a little more to start but in the end it will work in our benefit. As of last week almost 80 countries have come to the table to negotiate and that has been positive.

As for China we need to double down on them to either come away with better trade or rid ourselves from cheap imports that we think we need and the US could actually produce. Business in China is not privately owned. We are dealing with the CCP.

After all, we could do a comparison in Oregon using the liberals who want to tax and fee you to death, along with controlling everything in your daily lives… and for what? Nothing in return
