No one wants to hear this, but we're approaching the reality where municipalities - including states and the USFS, BLM and even NPS are going to have to subsidize strategic logging and clearing of the most flammable underbrush, in extremely large swaths of land. The old way of just auctioning off plots to the highest bidding logging firm then let them cut and re-seed how they see fit, isn't going to work. Nor is leaving it all untouched for "nature" to take its course. We're going to have to use tax dollars to pay logging and salvage companies to just take the undergrowth, and scant trees, and only in specific areas of the most truly high-risk, regardless of profit. For the cost of failing to do so, due to the extreme likelihood of future massive forest fires, will be far, far more costly.

Unfortunately, we now live in a socio-economic system that is firmly rooted in short term profits, and privatization, and endless lawsuits. As such a plan would be rapidly labeled "socialism", "communism", "corporate handouts and profiteering" etc. from all sides. With the loudest voices amplified being those who seek to sell all federal lands for good, to those who seek to sue to lock it all away forever, all tied to a growing plutocracy.

So the chances of an actual plan that benefits us for the nearly inevitable future happening is close to zero I'm afraid, and what we'll instead have happen is we will learn the very hard way, when one massive fire after another starts destroying town after town, forest after forest, scenic area after scenic area, and even cities, as we saw with Los Angeles.

I truly agree with what you have to say. I do believe we also need desperately to deal with the root cause, climate change. Whining about maps is just a distraction.

There is NO SUCH THING as "climate change" other than it changes every day. Wake up sheeple

As I drive home in Douglas county OR I see rows or "stripes" of burned forest on the side of the valley opposite of my home. "wildfires" DO NOT burn in stripes. It is clearly obvious the fires we have seen have not been organic or naturally occurring. There are numerous examples in recent years as to the sinister nature of these "wildfires" in Paradise CA - Lahaina HI - Flooding in Western NC - Los Angeles CA and more. Many people know of the purpose of the UN agenda 2030. The hazard risk" map is a fraud and fits the WHO depopulation agenda quite comfortably.

Quoted from the UN Habitat Conference of 1976:

"Land cannot be traded as an ordinary asset controlled by individuals subject to the pressures and inefficiency of the markets. Private land ownership is a principle instrument of accumulation of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice."

Meaning; if you own your home you are a targeted for the eventual removal of you and yours from your home. After all who is going to argue against "social injustice?" That's the trick. How is this to be implemented? Through unrestricted Guerilla "lawfare" tactics created by NGO's outside of our country and society. This is unacceptable and likely criminal.

Another point to consider is the recreational activities available and used in those areas that would become unavailable with massive wildfires. A definite economic blow to those areas would be felt for years until the land recovers.

Great information! Hopefully we can be smarter than California.....let's not just "wish" we would have done something different.

Maybe I read this too fast, but I don't see a problem with having maps. Somehow this just smells to me like pointless rock throwing.

It’s like being told your car is ‘high-risk’ based on a satellite image, even though you’ve installed every safety feature available—and now you have to worry about what that label means for resale value, regulations, and potential costs.

I don't know, more than anything it smacks of science denying and I somehow suspect you're in some sort of pay-back mode to the realty industry that was so very generous to you in your campaign.

Maybe I'm just crabby, but I was deeply affected by the book "Fire Weather" and I'm convinced we face a very real crisis and the map whining is nothing more than a distraction,.

Turn your TV off sheeple. Mind control is very simple. Sheeple injected a bioweapon into themselves for a non existent pandemic b/c their TV told them too. There is NO SUCH THING as "climate change" Try to stay on point sheeple but turn your TV off first.

I'm hope I die before the young trees in our subdivision become full size tree that draw the attention of the fire police. 😉
